I’ve been sick for what seems to be most of spring. I’ve been dealing with bronchitis now for about a month, and I’ve been exhausted. But, I’m finally starting to feel a little better, and even had a chance to get out and do some photography. I have lots of new work to share! But, before I get to that, I wanted to show off some pictures of my pets. My cat, Ripley, and my snake, Hissi, both recently turned 1 year old and I love to see how much they have changed in their first year.
It’s that time of year when people start to think of ideas for Christmas gifts. A pet portrait is a great idea for a unique gift, and now is the time to get in your order so I have plenty of time to finish it for Christmas. Contact me for information, if you are interested!
It is my opinion that there aren’t that many things cuter than a kitten.
I had been taking photographs with my macro lens, and when I finished what I was working on I started taking pictures of my kitten when she actually slowed down from playing and gave me an opportunity to shoot her portrait. The kitten was always on the move, so I didn’t even think about switching my lens. I think the macro lens actually worked out pretty well for this shot. I like the details of the nose, fur and her eye, but also like the shallow depth of field that gives this cat portrait a bit more of an artistic flavor.

I’d like to introduce the newest member to my family. This is my ball python, Hissy Fit. I call her Hissi. Long story short, husband came home with a snake. Wife was super mad at husband. Wife held snake and immediately fell in love. Husband ran out and got a snake for wife.
So, now we have Hisser and Hissi. I’ve had her for almost two months now, and she’s doing great. She is the first reptile I’ve had, so it has been fun learning about these animals and how to care for them.
I love her cute face.
This is my gentle Maine Coon cat, one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever known.

I’ve added a Commission page to my website because I am now available to take pet portrait commissions! I usually try to open commissions before Christmas because pet portraits can make great gifts, so if you are interested check out the page, Commissions.
For those interested here are some examples of my digital paintings of animals, including my own cat and goldfish.
